Board Books, Max's Valentine

Title: Max's Valentine
Author: Rosemary Wells
Publisher: Penguin Young Readers Group
Publish Date: 2003
ISBN: 0-670-03668-4

Bethany's Rating:  4/5

Summary: This book is about Max wanting a piece of candy. He asks Ruby while she is making valentines and she says no. By the end of the book Max receives a Valentine from Ruby and it has candy in it!

Evaluation: This book is a nice story for entertainment. The only thing I would add would be a life lesson. Someone reading the story to a child could try to expand on the importance of waiting and how Max waited and got what he wanted.

Board Books, Billy The Bulldozer

Title: Billy The Bulldozer
Author: Unknown
Publisher: Grandreams Limited

ISBN: 1-85830-082-7

Bethany's Rating: 1/5

Summary: This book is about a bulldozer named Billy who is working at Quincy's Quarry. Billy noticed another vehicle, Gus, who is falling into the quarry. Billy then goes and helps Gus out.

Evaluation: I would rate this book a 1 out of 5. Although this book does show a child the act of helping others out, the book uses bigger words that would go over a child's head. some examples of these words are cultivation, offloaded, vehicle, relieved.
